"At the start of our JEP Project, we split into teams of 4 and we brainstormed ideas to present to our Dragons. The winning idea was Christmas Logs. This idea won because the judges thought it was very sustainable & creative. We got the logs & decoration from a fellow classmates' gardens, which was good because they were free. We researched and found real looking wax electric candles from JYSK. This was our biggest cost.
We surveyed our school community & family for interest, decoration and price. The school community chose the following decorations: holly, fake robins, dried fruit, cinnamon sticks, ribbon, Christmas baubles, moss and fern.
The survey highlighted that people were willing to pay 12 euro per Christmas Log. The Design and Production team began planning how we would decorate our logs with the help of a parent & teacher. While the marketing team planned how we would market our logs.
We made the logs as a whole class in the following weeks and sold them on a Friday the 16th of December. It was a big success. We sold the logs in shifts of 45 mins at our local Centra and Post Office."
