MUSIC OF THE PLANTS: Irish wildflowers and trees in the Springtime forest

On March 21st, 4th class had a virtual visit from Heritage in Schools expert Marina Levitina. This creative session included;
- biodiversity, rewilding, and the role of plants and trees in stopping climate change
- the plant kingdom and the amazing world of plants as our natural and cultural heritage
- plant identification, learning to identify local wildflowers and native Irish trees
- traditional plant lore and the healing properties of wild plants
- an ancient Irish woodland, and the mycelial web
- Ireland’s sacred trees: the oak, the hawthorn, and the hazel tree.
- Irish names of plants and the stories contained within, STORYTELLING
- Seasonal changes and traditional Irish festivals celebrating the cycle of nature;
- MUSIC OF THE PLANTS: how plants can “sing” when connected to a biofeedback device (live demonstration); the relaxing and imaginative effects of plant music;
- ART ACTIVITY: learning to draw a wildflower.
- Q&A: lots of interaction and opportunities to ask questions!
