Space Week took place from October 4th – 10th. World Space Week is officially defined as “an international celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of the human condition”. The theme for World Space Week 2023 was “Space and Entrepreneurship.
A mobile planetarium visited the school on Wednesday October 4th to kickstart the Space Week for all classes.
3rd class visited Blackrock Castle Observatory for a ‘Rocket-obering’ with ESERO Ireland Space Week workshop. They were interviewed by RTE Junior and appeared on the news!
There were many space related activities during the week including space facts, space stories and space art in all classrooms.
Junior Infants made rockets and gorgeous Planet Earths!
2nd & 3rd class learned all about our planets and did some wonderful planet portraits. They also made their very own mini rockets and launched them!
3rd & 4th class created fantastic paper maché models of inside our planet.
6th class designed, created and presented their own unique planets for Space Week.
