Wildlife Pond

Our current 6th class created a Wildlife Pond and entered the project in Science Blast last year when they were in 5th class. They did such a wonderful job presenting their project virtually to a Science Blast judge. Thanks to Nicola Gleeson, Helen Crowley and Valerie Burns for all their work on this incredible project. The following was their feedback;

“The project was very impressive and the pupil’s learning was evident. The students were very confident in presenting and sharing the process the class went through to create the pond and the challenges they faced during the project. The class clearly demonstrated the use of scientific skills to plan the creation of the pond (suitable area, shape, dimensions, angles), during the creation of the pond (measurements, formation) and to gather evidence (pictures, drawings). The outcome showed a high level of commitment from both the students and the teacher. The class delivered a tangible project that will be of benefit for the environment and that they can keep getting involved with in the long term. It would be great to see the class gathering evidence about the development of the pond once they are back to school in September. I was delighted to see that the class included a video on the history of Timoleague and an introduction in Irish and Polish. Excellent job! Keep up the great work and fair play for all the class giving the presentation together and the great teamwork. Well done again!”

They have continued the work on this pond in Autumn 2021.
